This morning we celebrated the 4 boys' birthdays. 4 days late for the triplets - Theodore, Lucas and Joshua, who turned 5 and 2 days early for Aaron who turned 3.

What a blessing to have all of them born in the same month! One cake for 4 of them and 1 planning to do! I wonder how long can I do this collective affair. So far none asked for his owncake and own theme. Phew! Even the kids who were invited were puzzled with only 1 candle for the birthday boys. Perhaps next birthday I shall have 6 candles for a photo shot and 4 candles for another shot and 1 candle for the birthday song! Hahaha....
Anyway, it was easy to get them to agree on one theme - army. Boys being boys, they lovemilitary stuff. Of course they have different opinions - from "Zoo" to "Super heros" to"Transportation" but it was easier to get consensus. This theme got the boys all of them excited! And so were the guests!

And yes, we settled the theme a year ahead! We ordered most of the items from USA at the beginning of this year as a friend was moving back to Singapore. Thanks Joe! Your help meant a lot to the boys!
An hour before the guests arrived, we setup an Enlistment Office where the recruits had to report
for duty.
.

We had our friend, Sergeant Low to assist in giving out the camouflage helmets, hats and face painting.
PaPa aka Captain Yeo also got himself organized! Here's his plan.

Note the RTU at the end. I figured out later that it meant "Return to Unit" which he meant "return to the function room for lunch".
The first activity was a briefing from Caption Yeo on the secret mission - to rescue General Bear Bear and his troops.

Before the mission took place, the recruits had to undergo training in grenade throwing. We got them to queue up and took turns to throw the bean bags.

After the intensive training, the boys were sent off on the mission.
They had a great time running around the park in search of the captives. Recruit Wesly found the General behind the tree!

And the rest found the toy army soldiers hidden on the ground near the trees.

At the end, all the recruits were rewarded with key chains and meals at the mess.

We decorated the walls with our national flag, cut outs from army magazines, and camouflage banner. Mini national flags and poles were placed on the kids tables.

The recruits' lunch were packed in boxes as in food rationing.Unfortunately, they preferred to eat our catered food.
Next, we had the hitting of the army pinata!

This was filled with flag erasers, planes, army soldiers and candies. Then in good pinata fashion, a scrabble for the goodies.

The highlight of the celebration was THE CAKE. It took us a while to decide on the design of the cake and the cake shop. Finally we settled with My Fat Lady Cake Shop

It was a mistake to collect the cake the night before. The cake did not stay hold very well so this morning when I moved the cake, an arm came off. I was too lazy to fix it so I gobbled it down! I reckoned that an injured soldier is more realistic! Lesson learnt - get the cake delivered!
It was great fun and I was glad the kids and even the adults enjoyed it! We could be visiting this theme again when the boys were older. A real obstacle course and a mud pit would be ideal. Here are pictures of the Lord's army! :)

Happy birthday, my dear boys!

LOL. Nice one Chris and Elsa.
Next year, I shall send you two more recruits. They need the training.
