Happy Halloween 2011

We were deciding if we should continue our annual Halloween treat and tricking at Woodlands or venture to new places closer to us - Holland Road estate or join Annabelle and kids at Pandan Valley apartments.

In order to made an informed decision, yesterday I got PaPa to drive us around at Holland Road which was just a stone away from my in law's place. We only managed to see 3 decorated houses. A check with a friend who stayed there confirmed our findings. She said that the decorated houses were grossly less as compared to last year. Probably a sign of a slow down economy. So we decided to head to Woodlands on the actual day.

It was pouring in the afternoon. Fortunately, the sky cleared up in the evening and we made our way to Woodlands at 630pm. It helped that we stayed 15 mins drive from the venue. We had a hard time finding a parking space as the roads nearest to the estate were very packed.
We ended up parking at the public housing parking lots.

It was pretty dark by the time we got there. I was surprised that the estate was filled with so many people on a weekday.
The kids were mainly from the American International School. Woodlands Grove was the area highly concentrated with American families because of the location of the school.

This year the boys dressed up as Super Heros and a Dragon.
I would love Aaron to dress as Superman but being the willful child, he wanted his way. Children of their pre-school age were the most welcome of all. We had extra candies per child for this age group. Probably the older kids were less courteous? I saw some older kids literally snatched the candies from the pot without even greeting the hosts or saying the least "trick or treat".
Here's one of the boys' bag filled with candies.
We did not cover the entire estate as it was getting dark and definitely way passed their bedtime. But the cheeky boys had some time entertaining us with their scary teeth!
